Archive for the “Blogging” Category

This blog has been terribly neglected lately, and the tiny readership I might have ever had, has probably disappeared elsewhere, and rightfully so. The reason for not updating lately is that me and husband are temporarily relocated to the other side of the earth - we are living in Hong Kong for half a year (yes, I know, that is very cool!). So with all the preparations and then coming here and trying to figure stuff out and all, yeah, not a lot of time and energy for blogging. I have been reading though, and there have been a lot of good stuff - and craziness - as usual. I don’t plan to make this a “look what cool/weird/funny/terrible things are happening to me in HK”-blog now, but I do have some changes in mind. I want to make it more pointed. More sharp. I have some ideas, we’ll see where it leads me. Anyway, I am back.

Via incoming links in my Wordpress blog stats I find that I have been linked to on a recent post at Birth Pangs. The writer April Reign shows us a letter written by a man named Michael who has compiled a list of bloggers who has written about the “Pill Kills”-campaign. And I, through my little post here, have made that list!

We who think that the campaign is ridiculous BS are called “Culture of Death bloggers”. And this is apparently just the “short list”. Gee guys, it’s such an honor to be nominated!

I reprint Michael’s letter below - yeah, I normally don’t want to give shit as this any attention, but I’ll do it this time - with the links to all my fellow “culture of death” bloggers.* Keep up the good work people!

Dear pro-life friends,

As many of you already know, American Life League is launching a campaign to inform the public about the abortifacient nature of oral contraceptives. (If you don’t already know about it, please take a moment to check out www.ThePillKills.com . Also, be sure to join our facebook page and invite your friends! www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=34501835075 ) Some of you have blogged about it, and we’re gearing up for a full-court press on this initiative.
But we need your help!
In just 2 days, “pro-choice” bloggers have filled the blogosphere with their vitriol and Culture of Death rhetoric. In fact, one blogger went so far as to state his hatred for babies, while a comment on another blog indicated a desire to show up to a designated protest area to “mess with” us.
Just to give you a sampling of who is saying what, I am sending you a “short” list of Culture of Death bloggers talking about The Pill Kills website. I don’t recommend wasting too much time reading their nonsense, but it is worth noting their overt hostility to anything that “just might” change their worldview of “promiscuity-made-safe.”
We present information. They present virtiol. Why is that? Makes one wonder what they’re so angry about!
Your voice is louder than theirs because you have the Truth! So let’s fill the blogosphere with the Truth! Send e-mails. Tell your friends. Post The Pill Kills button on your blogs! Do whatever it takes … just don’t let them silence our voice for those who don’t have one.
As always, thanks for everything you do for the pro-life cause. Our efforts would be a lot harder without yours!
–Michael

I’ve been feeling…out of it lately, and despite a myriad of things blog-worthy of my attention and loads of scattered ideas in my head, I haven’t been able to put any of it down in writing. I know posting has been very scattered lately due to other engagements, and I was very excited to get writing again, but right now I’m just feeling… meh… I need to figure some shit out.
So, yeah, visit the other blogs in the blogroll for now. I’ll be back.

I know that not updating means slow decay of your blog, but I’m living in a parallel reality right now without internet access (just a few minutes to write this). I’m back on Tuesday so then I will get going again, I promise!

So, more work, this time in the Swedish armed forces. I don’t know if I’ll be able to blog for a week or so, but I’ll certainly try to. Meanwhile, visit the blogs in the blogroll!
Now that I’ve promoted those, here’s a little self promotion:
The first fruits of my labor this weekend can be found here.
Update: And here.

My writing is taking me elsewhere this weekend. I will return on Sunday (I hope).
To get your feelings up for the weekend, I give you this:

I’m sorry about the lack of posts lately, I’ve been away all weekend and my awful cold is worse, and to add to that lots of work to do.

I have made some blogroll additions which are all worth checking out. Some of them are newly found, some I have read for a while but haven’t added (for some strange reason). The newlyadds are:

Angry black woman, whose posts have made me think of racism in new ways, and to start examine my privilege.
Astarte’s circus, newly found and immediately added. Feminism etc.
Big fat deal, about body positivity (and who has a community of people who answered thoughtfully and beautifully when a 14 year old asked how to accept your body - I wrote about that here and here).
Jinge (in Swedish), blogs about politics.
Muslimah media watch, writes about Muslim women in the media and pop culture.
She who stumbles, in her own words “the politics of a South Asian Australian woman who problematically identifies as queer, feminist, Hindu, anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist.”
Taking steps, by Little Light who is “a crimefighting multiracial transsexual steampunk street medic who moonlights as a hereditary semiprofessional occultist and obsessive religion scholar.”

Check them out!

Edit April 16th
: I forgot to add Uncool. Uncool should definitely be on the blogroll.

Oh, and this too: Angry black woman has called a carnival of the allies.

I call a Carnival. The Carnival of Allies. Where self-identified allies write to other people like themselves about why this or that oppression and prejudice is wrong. Why they are allies. Why the usual excuses are not good enough. I figure allies probably know full well all the many and various arguments people throw up to make prejudice and oppression okay. Things that someone on the other side of the fence may not hear. Address those things and more besides.

And when I say allies, I’m talking about any and every type. PoC can be (and should be) allies to other PoC, or to LGBTQ people if they are straight, or any number of other combinations. If you feel like you’re an ally and have something to say about that, you should submit to this carnival.

I will submit something to this, and I am trying to get my thoughts coherent and my wording right. I feel this is important. Stay tuned.

My blog traffic has gone up quite a bit over the last few days, and I have therefore found it necessary to develop a comment policy. You can find it by clicking on the link on top of the page. Please read it before making a comment.

Due to technical issues, the blogroll is currently off the air. Improved and expanded blogroll will return as soon as I have figured out all the tech stuff.

Update: …and it’s back! Also trying to figure out a lot of other technical and design issues - changes are sure on their way.
